On April 22, 2026, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports marked the International Day for Monuments and Sites with the program “Monuments That Speak – Heritage as Identity.” The event brought together experts in the field of cultural and historical heritage protection and served as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences on contemporary challenges in this area.

The attendees were addressed by the Federal Minister of Culture and Sports, Sanja Vlaisavljević, the President of the National Committee of ICOMOS in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Maja Pličanić, and the Ministry’s expert advisor Nusret Čolo, who emphasized the importance of strategic investment, a professional and long-term approach, and stronger inter-institutional cooperation in preserving cultural heritage.

Special attention was given to the role of heritage in shaping identity and educating society, accompanied by expert presentations and the exhibition “Počitelj.” On this occasion, the Ministry also announced new activities in anticipation of the European Heritage Days.
